Explore one of the most biodiverse and breathtaking marine ecosystems on Earth.

About The Belize Barrier Reef

The Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System

The Belize Barrier Reef is a UNESCO World Heritage ecosystem spanning more than 185 miles of pristine coral habitat along Belize’s Caribbean coast. As the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere and the second largest in the world, it is one of the top destinations for scuba diving, snorkeling, and marine conservation in the Caribbean.

This extraordinary reef system includes seven marine protected areas, expansive coral formations, and some of the region’s most vibrant marine biodiversity. Visitors encounter colorful reef fish, rays, sharks, and critical habitats that support endangered species such as sea turtles and West Indian manatees.

Renowned for its crystal-clear waters and world-class dive sites including the famous Great Blue Hole;  the Belize Barrier Reef offers unforgettable underwater experiences while playing a vital role in global marine conservation.
